Archives For Mario

It always irritates me when things I really want aren’t sold in the US, mainly because the cost of getting something imported is insane.  I’ve been known to pay upwards of $45 just to get a DVD shipped from Europe since it couldn’t be found in the US.  Its not very often I have stuff imported (I would quickly go broke if I did it a lot), but sometimes it is just necessary and I suspect that this is one of those times because the Super Mario Bros shoes below are awesome!

In the past, I have posted some really cool Super Mario Bros themed shoes including some neat Super Mario Bros heels (here is another pair I like just as much) as well as some Paper Mario VANS sneakers.  However, unlike those, these Super Mario Bros themed Converse One Star shoes are going to be available to the masses, at least assuming you live in Japan.

These shoes come in red or green depending on if you want the old 8-bit Mario or 8-bit Bowser and the feature a Super Star on the side replacing the normal Converse Star.

Apparently if you can find them in Japan, they are running in the area of 20,000 yen or $195.  At that price, I think I can live without them because by the time I got done with the import costs and everything, I wouldn’t be surprised if the total cost ended up closer to $300 and that is just crazy for Mario shoes.  I will never pay that much for shoes!

With Father’s Day just a couple of weeks away (June 15th for those who don’t know), have you figured out what you are getting your father or the dad in your life for the special day?  To be honest, it hadn’t even crossed my mind yet as I am one of those people that doesn’t get whatever gift I am getting until the last minute (also known as the last day possible for Amazon to get it to me on time).  However, for those of you who aren’t horrible procrastinators like I am and know the dad they are getting a gift for is a gamer, then I think I have found the t-shirt for you and it is dirt cheap!

The awesome folks over at ThinkGeek are selling this really cool Super Mario 8-Bit BBQ Father’s Day t-shirt for only $5!  The shirt features Mario doing a little grilling with the words ‘Father’s Day 2014 ThinkGeek” under it.

I’m not even a father and I want this shirt, especially for only $5!  I’m not sure how I look in that much red but it is still a really cool shirt.

Most people don’t know this little fact about me, but I used to be utterly repulsed by tattoos of any kind regardless of where they were on the body or how big they were.

I always used to prefer the look of plain skin to tattoos of whatever and to an extent that is still true.  However, I think part of my original dislike of tattoos was that I has just never seen any that were really well done (I guess the tattoo artists and prison inmates in my area suck at doing decent looking tattoos).  It wasn’t until I went to a local sci-fi convention and saw a women with an an incredibly well done Spock tattoo on one shoulder blade and an equally good looking Picard tattoo on the other that I realized they could actually be pretty cool.  Now I have come to really enjoy them (assuming they are well done).

Well, speaking of tattoos that are well done, I think this Super Mario Bros tattoo on this persons leg has to be one of if not the best Mario tattoos I have ever seen!  The color is perhaps the best I have seen on ANY tattoo as well!

Unfortunately, I don’t know who this leg belongs to or who the tattoo artist was that inked this work of gaming art so if you know who they are, please let me know in the comments below so we can give them credit!

I know a lot of people with great looking hair but its not very often that they do something with it that just makes my jaw drop.  I think the last time that happened was when I woman I knew just decided to shave her head.  Well, speaking of shaved heads, one Super Mario Bros fan decided to get what is perhaps the coolest haircut I have ever seen and what I am going to name the Mario.

Sadly, I don’t know who this guy is or who their barber is to give them credit as I just saw this come across my Facebook feed last week so if you know who this guy is or who did this haircut, please let us know in the comments below!

I normally keep my hair really shirt (just a hair longer than this guy) and I would love to have a Mario haircut but I don’t think my barber has the skills to pull this off.  I would love to sport a Mario haircut though!

I’m curious how long it took to make this and how much it cost?  So many questions, so few answers!

One of the downsides of being a guy is that we really don’t get any cool pants to wear.  In my case, I can’t even think of the last time I have worn something other than jeans.  I have to admit, I am rather jealous of women that wear pants like the awesome pair of New Super Mario Bros leggings below.

The folks at ROMWE are selling these awesome Super Mario blue leggings for just $29.99!  I’d recommend consulting their size and fit guide to figure out which pair is best for you but since these are made of elastic fabric, I would expect there to be a little give no matter what size you go with.

Why can’t guys get cool pants like these?!  I would love to wear some Super Mario Bros pants!  I see a huge market opportunity here for somebody willing to pursue pants like these for guys.

For as cool as I think a lot of Japanese stuff is, I have never really got into the kimono thing.  There isn’t anything that I dislike about them, I just can’t see myself lounging around the house in one.  However, I have seen some cool ones before but none cool enough to make me want one.  That is until today.  After seeing this amazing Super Mario Bros kimono, I really want one!

I’m not sure who this woman is sporting this phenomenal Super Mario Bros kimono, but she must be one awesome geek to wear it!  If anybody knows who this is, please let me know in the comments so I can give her credit!  I would also love to know if she made this herself of if it can be purchased somewhere.  Pink isn’t really my color, but if I can buy one for myself in another color, I definitely would!

I love the Blooper scarf too as it really completes the Super Mario Bros look.

Princess Peach always seems like this lovely, innocent princess or at least she does until you get on her bad side.

I don’t know what the cosplayers dressed as Kid Icarus, Samus, Yoshi and Sheik did to piss Princess Peach off, but it had to be bad if she is chasing after them with a giant hammer.  Unfortunately, I don’t know the names of any of these cosplayers (if you do, please let us know in the comments so we can give them credit) but maybe that isn’t so bad because who would want to be known as the guy who got his butt kicked by Princess Peach?  Not me!

Is there anything better than a really cute girl sporting some awesome cosplay?  I think not!

Well, cosplayer Enji Night (the girl in the picture, duh!), seems to be a big fan of Mario and decided to dress up like my favorite video game plumber!  There is all kinds of gaming greatness in this picture, but I have to say that I am kind of jealous of the mushroom necklace.  It might seem kind of big although I think I would probably prefer to wear something like that over the Gears of War dog tag that I currently wear just because Super Mario Bros is much more recognizable.

I’m really starting to wonder why it is that women seem to get all of the good geeky clothing and guys like me are just stuck with whatever geeky t-shirts we can find.  In this particular case, for the Super Mario Bros loving women out there, Etsy seller FantastiquePlastique is selling this awesome Mario mushroom cardigan for $49.50.  That seems a bit high for me but I have never priced cardigans before although I suppose it would be worth it just for the awesome mushroom buttons.  Apparently this is also available with 1Up mushrooms if the red mushrooms aren’t your thing.
