Show Your 8-Bit Love With This NES Controller Ring

At this point, I think you are all pretty familiar with my dislike of wearing things like rings because I feel they get in the way and are too restrictive, not to mention my fear of never being able to get them off once I get them on.  However, I still enjoy looking at and posting about really cool rings that I happen to come across while I am browsing my favorite websites.  Speaking of cool rings, I think I have found one that any fan of the Nintendo NES console will love!  And yes, I know saying Nintendo NES is redundant but I feel like it is the style I want to write in for once so deal with it! 😛

Etsy seller mooredesign13 is selling these handmade NES controller rings for just $200!  The rings feature the NES controller on a brick pattern with rubies as the A and B buttons.  The ring itself is made of sterling silver.

If you decide to order one of these, be warned that the smallest they can make is a size 9 because otherwise the A and B buttons are too small to set the ruby stones in.

Rings like this make me really wish I liked wearing rings because I would love to wear an NES controller around my finger.

NES Controller Baseball Cap

Depending on how long you have been a reader here at Fanboy Fashion or my other site, Global Geek News, you may or may not know that I never leave the house without a hat and I grew up playing the Nintendo Entertainment System.  Well, somebody has finally combined those two things and created a baseball cap style hat with an NES controller embroidered on it!  I might not need a new hat since I just got a new God of War hat that I just started wearing but I think my next has is likely to be this cool NES Controller hat, something I would recommend for anybody else out there that also spent much of their lives with the NES!

The incredibly nerdy people over at SuperHeroStuff are selling this sweet grey Nintendo Entertainment System controller hat for just $21.99!  The hat is a snapback hat so you can adjust it to fit your head which in my experience is a lot better than those hats with elastic (like my God of War cap of which I am on my third one because I love the design so much), which take no time to wear out and suddenly even the lightest gust of wind can steal the cap from your head like the playground bully you hated in school.

Super Mario Bros All Star Converse Shoes

It always irritates me when things I really want aren’t sold in the US, mainly because the cost of getting something imported is insane.  I’ve been known to pay upwards of $45 just to get a DVD shipped from Europe since it couldn’t be found in the US.  Its not very often I have stuff imported (I would quickly go broke if I did it a lot), but sometimes it is just necessary and I suspect that this is one of those times because the Super Mario Bros shoes below are awesome!

In the past, I have posted some really cool Super Mario Bros themed shoes including some neat Super Mario Bros heels (here is another pair I like just as much) as well as some Paper Mario VANS sneakers.  However, unlike those, these Super Mario Bros themed Converse One Star shoes are going to be available to the masses, at least assuming you live in Japan.

These shoes come in red or green depending on if you want the old 8-bit Mario or 8-bit Bowser and the feature a Super Star on the side replacing the normal Converse Star.

Apparently if you can find them in Japan, they are running in the area of 20,000 yen or $195.  At that price, I think I can live without them because by the time I got done with the import costs and everything, I wouldn’t be surprised if the total cost ended up closer to $300 and that is just crazy for Mario shoes.  I will never pay that much for shoes!

Nintendo Entertainment System Controller T-Shirt

It kind of amazes me when I sit back and think about the fact that I have been playing video games for over 24 years now.  All those years ago, I started my gaming addiction with my NES (which I still have and it works) and I have a lot of fond memories of growing up playing games like Super Mario Bros, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Battletoads, Duck Hunt and many others.  That is why I am so fond of this NES controller shirt and I am sure that anybody else that grew up with a NES will be too!

The awesome geeks over at SuperHeroStuff are selling this nostalgic NES controller shirt for just $19.99!  Right now, they only have a size large in stock but other sizes are on order so if you need a different size, keep checking back and I am sure they will have them in the next few days.

I would love to know how many of you grew up with an NES?  Do you still play it?  Let me know in the comments and feel free to share your favorite NES games as I am always looking for new ones to try!

Learn To Paint Duck Hunt Fingernails

There are some guys that like to paint their fingernails but I’m not one of them.  From guys like that who I have talked to, most do it because it gets the attention of women and it makes for a decent ice breaker but I guess I’m just not that desperate.  If I can’t get a girl without painting up my fingernails, she is not worth getting!

However, if I ever decided to paint my nails, I can’t think of anything better than to make them look like the classic video game, Duck Hunt.

Makeup and nail artist Katie Satow has a show on the Geek & Sundry YouTube channel which airs every other Thursday and in the episode below, she shows how to make these incredible Duck Hunt nails.  Any woman that decides to follow this how-to video and sport some awesome Duck Hunt fingernail art is pretty much guaranteed to have my heart.

If you try your hand at this cool Duck Hunt fingernail art, let us know in the comments below and share pictures of the results!

Custom NES Cartridge Rings Are Perfect for Any Finger [pic]

I can honestly say I have never met anybody like me in that I refuse to wear any sort of ring.  Even when I was in high school, I think I was the only one who didn’t order a class ring just because I find wearing something like that around my fingers to be annoying in the same way that nails on a chalkboard are annoying.  It is hard to really explain my dislike of rings but I see no possible way to convince me to wear one.  That said, if I ever lost my mind and decided to wear one, it would have to be one of these amazing NES cartridge rings!

Etsy seller ohmygeekness is selling these amazing custom NES cartridge rings for just $16!  While I would certainly be happy with either Super Mario Bros or the Legend of Zelda cartridge (if I wore a ring), you can have any game made for you!

I suppose if I had to wear a ring and got one of these, I would probably go with DuckTales or Battletoads.  It would be a tough call to make and luckily I don’t have to make it!

If you loved NES games and decide to get one of these rings, I would love to hear what game you chose in the comments below.

NES Fans Will Love This Duck Hunt Skirt!

It has been a long time since I have played Duck Hunt but I spent a quite a few hours during my childhood trying to shoot the dog as he mocked me for not hitting one of the ducks.  As annoying as that dog was, I don’t think the game would have been quite as fun without him.  Perhaps that is why I love this skirt so much because it does feature the dog mocking you!

Etsy seller GoFollowRabbits is selling this awesome Duck Hunt skirt for just $45.99.  This skirt is 19″ long and is sure to look great on any NES loving girls.  Sorry guys, but you just don’t have the legs to pull this one off no matter how bad you want to so don’t even try.

If you do end up getting this skirt, I want to see pictures of you wearing it!

Super Mario Bros Kimono [pics]

For as cool as I think a lot of Japanese stuff is, I have never really got into the kimono thing.  There isn’t anything that I dislike about them, I just can’t see myself lounging around the house in one.  However, I have seen some cool ones before but none cool enough to make me want one.  That is until today.  After seeing this amazing Super Mario Bros kimono, I really want one!

I’m not sure who this woman is sporting this phenomenal Super Mario Bros kimono, but she must be one awesome geek to wear it!  If anybody knows who this is, please let me know in the comments so I can give her credit!  I would also love to know if she made this herself of if it can be purchased somewhere.  Pink isn’t really my color, but if I can buy one for myself in another color, I definitely would!

I love the Blooper scarf too as it really completes the Super Mario Bros look.

This Nintendo Sleeve Tattoo is Awesome! [pic]

Since the young age of 2, I have been playing video games.  While I spent a good bit of my childhood dropping quarters at the local arcade, most of my gaming was done on Nintendo consoles like the NES.  So its pretty safe to say there is a special place in my heart for old Nintendo games like Super Mario Bros (which I still play almost daily 23 years later) and the Legend of Zelda.

While I may have a huge love for old Nintendo games and blog about it on occasion, there is one cool guy that prefers to wear his love for old Nintendo games on his sleeve.  He even went so far as to get a Nintendo tattoo sleeve!

This awesome Nintendo sleeve tattoo belongs to Johan Jonk Stenström.  It was inked by the obviously talented tattoo artist Mina at Hawk and Sparrows and the picture was taken by Lisa.
